Bullwhip

I was so excited about the arrival of my Stone Cold Fox sale score- the bullwhip romper. I have worn it multiple times since receiving it in the mail, and finally was able to shoot this look in it on my way to wine night with the girls last weekend. It is such a perfect summer staple, and so easy to just throw on and go! I can dress it up or down, for night or day, and even plan on wearing it well into fall with jackets, socks, and booties.

School Spirit Vision

Being at school is the last thing I want to be doing in August, let alone high school (I think we can all vouch for that.) However, when I received the pair of platform loafers in the mail, I had a vision. Bouncing on football field bleachers and pretending to skip class appealed to me in a whole new way.

First, I'd like to brag about my triumph in the Zara sales. Online a few weeks ago I saw the same pair of said loafers that blog prodigy Chiara Ferragni wore in a few photos. When I got all my funds together to make the purchase, the shoes were gone. I kept my calm and said my nightly prayers that, along with good health, I would find those shoes again. And then, on a chance browse of the sale shoe selection, I found the same loafers I had been panting for weeks before. And 70% off no less!

The pants, by Vince, are a school staple. When I was actually in high school I probably would have rather filled my mouth with acrylic poster paint than wear khakis. But now, looking back on such naiveté with a cultured and open-minded outlook, I scoff at my prejudice. They're softer than jeans, more versatile, and with a clean pressing look a lot more crisp. The top, a breezy number by Helmut Lang, is soft enough and thin enough to be completely bearable in the summer heat.

I accessorized with a duo of gold cuffs, a Jennifer Zeuner lariat Rayna necklace, and a few more gold chains. My sunglasses, Ray Ban, are perfectly dark enough so that if I was still in grade 12 I could keep them on during Calculus and comfortably snooze.

Flower Shop

This day was one of the first of the few warm days we've just recently been having over here on the East Coast, so we shot this look as we strolled through the flower district in Chelsea. I wore a short-sleeved cashmere sweater, and, as I'm still not quite ready for a full commitment to a warm-weather outfit, my favorite blue and black fur vest by Truth and Pride. To counteract the diva-ness of the fur and pointy toed kitten heels, I made it more casual with some ripped Madewell boyfriend jeans. I've been slacking on posts, mostly because it's been pouring rain for the past couple of weeks, but hopefully I will have a bit more motivation if the weather continues in this direction!

Ace Hotel

While I'm happy I still have a bit more time to wear this jacket I got a few weeks ago, I am really over winter and just want it to be spring already. I can't wait for the nearing days when I only have to choose a few pieces of an outfit and not have to stand in my closet trying to coordinate five layers of clothing each morning!
But for now, this is what I came up with as I prepared to go to Stumptown Coffee at the Ace Hotel on this rainy morning. This casual look consists of baggy silk pants, which I've been basically living in since I got them, and my favorite black long sleeved Elizabeth & James t-shirt. The weird-shaped Reiss coat is great because of its boxiness, and can be thrown over anything. So happy layering, east coasters, (but for hopefully not too much longer!).
